Set within the UNESCO-declared Waterberg Biosphere, Laluka Safari Lodge is a small, family-run retreat in the heart of the malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve (approx. 250 km / 3 hours from Johannesburg, or a 45-minute light-aircraft charter to the reserve airstrip). The private, low-volume reserve is home to the Big Five and one of the largest private white-rhino populations in Africa, and Laluka offers personalised, conservation-focused safaris where the wildlife — not the crowds — take centre stage.
The property comprises just six standalone luxury suites, each angled to overlook the Tshwene valley and wrapped in indigenous greenery. Every suite features a king-size bed framed by panoramic windows, indoor and outdoor showers, a freestanding bath, a private wooden deck with a teardrop plunge pool, air-conditioning and a personal bar station. The main lodge is built around an open lounge with a panoramic wood fire that becomes the restaurant on cool evenings, plus a boutique, walk-in wine room, boma and a sun deck with the main pool.
Dining at Laluka is all‑inclusive and rooted in sustainability: most vegetables, eggs, honey, cheese, charcuterie and free-range meat are sourced from the on-site Laluka organic farm. The kitchen benefits from regular coaching by celebrated chef Piet Huysentruyt and dishes are matched with a cellar of boutique Cape wines. Guests describe the welcome as warm and familial — ideal for couples, families (suites can accept extra single beds) and small private groups.

- Transfer policy: Laluka Safari Lodge is located inside Welgevonden Game Reserve. A vehicle of Laluka will meet guests at Laluka Farm (across the Main Gate) from 11:30-12:00 on arrival and will transfer them to the lodge. On departure the vehicle leaves the lodge at 10:30 to transfer back to Laluka Farm. Extra transfers outside these arrival & departure times incur additional charges (R2000.00).
- Children policy: children below 4 years old are not allowed on game drives; baby-sitting, camping cots & baby chairs can be arranged/are available. Children 4-12 years old may join game drives only if a private vehicle is booked and a minimum of 3 rooms are booked or the lodge is booked for exclusive use.
