- About Tintswalo Family Camp:
- Tintswalo Family Camp is located in the Welgevonden Game Reserve in Limpopo. The Welgevonden Game Reserve comprises of 40 000 hectares of pristine bushveld and ranks amongst South Africa’s largest private game reserves, forming part of the only savanna biosphere reserve in the world, proclaimed by UNESCO in March 2001. The rich and diverse Waterberg region offers an extraordinary variety of unspoilt habitats.
- Overall, more than 50 mammals, 300 birds and 2,000 plant species can be found within the reserve. The Big 5 is in abundance, as well as cheetah, brown hyena, honey badger and many other interesting animal and bird species. The malaria-free Welgevonden Game Reserve is a pioneer in conservation initiatives; this ethos forming an integral part of the rich, multi-generational family experience that is on offer at Tintswalo’s Family Camp.
- Tintswalo Family Camp is strategically positioned to offer a unique safari experience, with the option of a Kosher kitchen, all within 3 hours’ drive from Johannesburg.
- Welcoming children of all ages, the camp is protected by electric fencing against predators and other dangerous game to allow young guests the freedom to enjoy the outside areas. It offers a choice of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom suites and is also available on an exclusive-use basis, which is suited to bigger family groups or executive breakaways where one party takes over the full camp.
- Eagle Suite: Luxury two-bedroom unit: 2 Adults + 2 kids under 16y
- The Eagle Suite is a 2-bedroom unit with views overlooking the reserve and is linked to the main lodge via meandering pathways.
- Unit configuration: The main bedroom has a king bed and full en-suite bathroom with bathtub and indoor and outdoor shower. The second bedroom has two single beds and full en-suite bathroom with bathtub and indoor and outdoor shower.
- The Roller Bird Suite-based on 2 adults and 4 children under 16 yrs -A 3-bedroom unit with a veranda overlooking the wilderness and is linked to the main lodge via meandering pathways.
- Unit configuration:
- The main bedroom has a king bed and full en-suite bathroom with bathtub and indoor and outdoor shower.
- The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has two single beds. These two rooms share a bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower.
- Child policy: Children of all ages welcome. Children under 16 yrs must share with an adult 16 yrs or older. Only in the event where exclusive use of the property is booked will children 5 yrs and younger be permitted on game drive, however will be offered a bush bumble after breakfast which includes a child friendly activity. No additional beds or private safari vehicles available.

- Game drives – Open 4x4 safari vehicles are equipped with radios for communication, ponchos for wet weather and individual blankets for early morning and evening chills, as well as spotlights for night viewing

- Check in and check out: No private vehicles are allowed inside the reserve. Transfer departure times from Welgevonden Main Gate to Tintswalo are 12h30 to 13h00 for arrivals, room check in guaranteed at 15h00, and 11h00 for departures, room check out at 10h00. Late arrivals or early departures or any other transfers between the gate and the lodge outside of these times will incur a transfer fee of R500.
- Childminding services: On offer to families where children are not able to go on scheduled game drives R150 per hour, maximum 2 children per childminder.
- Intimate bush picnics: enjoy lunch in nature, available to couples or small family groups R350 per person
- Night drives: short drive after dinner to spot nocturnal animals - R500 per person or R5000 per drive for a private night drive.
- Wi-Fi: Wireless internet available throughout the main areas and rooms. May at times be unstable due to the lodge being situated in a remote area. No cell phone signal
